"Much acting was not
needed for this film for it had the excuse of being
a summer movie. Cage and Jolie did not have to live up to the expectations
the people now have because they have shown what they
can do, and they are now basically expanding on the type of films they may
like doing. Duvall put on a decent act-as much as
his part required. Bruckheimer was really
looking to display a whirlwind of wild stunts and tricks,
but when the GT 500 flew twenty yards ... that was pushing it.
If
emotions had flown into this movie, it would have defeated its purpose
of showing a lot of fun and action. Instead of focusing on the stunts
we would focus on the heavy pressure placed on Memphis and his crew.
Hence, emotional consideration was not key here, and the movie served its
purpose of entertaining everyone. For that reason, it
is a better movie than your review suggests."
